ABOUT DENSITY FELLOWS

APPLY FOR THE 2026 DENSITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM TODAY!

Applications are now open for the second cohort of the Density Fellows program (2026-27)!
Five flutists will be selected for the 2026-27 fellowship, which offers one-on-one mentorship with

Claire Chase on works in the Density catalog as well as a one-time stipend towards the production

costs of performance or recording a Density work. The fundamental values of the fellowship mirror

those of Density Arts at large – the ethos of collaboration, an openness to radical experimentation

and reinvention, and a community-centered approach to concert production. There is NO

application fee and the application deadline is July 15, 2026.

We launched the Density Fellows program in 2023 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of

the Density 2036 project! The program supports an international cohort of emerging flutists in a
one-year fellowship focused on the performance and recording of repertoire in the Density
catalog. Fellows receive mentorship from Claire Chase and the Density composers throughout
the fellowship period and receive a stipend to support their performance and recording
projects. Read about the inaugural class of Density Fellows — who hail from the

United States, Mexico, Finland, Uzbekistan, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, and

Hungary — and their exciting projects below.
