Dalma Sarnyai

Dalma Sarnyai was born in Hungary in 1995 and started playing the flute at the age of seven. With the support of her first flute teacher, she participated regularly in competitions and had many opportunities to perform in her youth.Thanks to her musicality, Dalma's childhood was strongly influenced not only by music but also by dance, which is also reflected in her later works. In 2013, she was admitted first to preliminary studies and later to instrumental studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. During her classical studies, she was eager to break the dogmatic rules for musicians and distance herself from conventions. Dalma has found her artistic expression most in modern music, especially in performance and she has specialised in working with percussionists. In addition to contemporary repertoire, she has also been working on her own trans- and interdisciplinary creations since 2019. Dalma lives and works as a freelance musician in Vienna.
